Title:

Symplectic rigidity: lower bounds for Hamiltonian fixed points and Lagrangian intersections

Abstract:

I will trace the development of some symplectic rigidity results, from Poincaré’s last geometric theorem to our recent proof of the Arnold–Givental conjecture in full generality, which is joint work with Shaoyun Bai, Egor Shelukhin, and Guangbo Xu. The focus will be on lower bounds for Hamiltonian fixed points and Lagrangian intersections, highlighting the role of Floer theory in their historical development. Examples will include the sphere, the torus, and smooth projective varieties.
