Abstract:
In this talk, we introduce Radon measure-valued solutions to the compressible Euler equations and derive a system of partial differential equations governing infinitesimally thin shock layers. Within this framework, we obtain the Newtonian–Busemann pressurelaw in a general setting, validate the hypersonic similarity law, and rigorously establish the Mach number independence principle for hypersonic flows in certain special cases. This approach also provides a new way to address complex problems involving coupling across multiple scales and has the potential to simplify the mathematical analysis and numerical computation of hypersonic flows past bodies.
