Biography

Lifeng Yan is an Assistant Professor at the Hetao Institute of Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences, Shenzhen. He received his B.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in Software Engineering from Shandong University in 2021 and 2026, respectively. During his doctoral study, he was supervised by Prof. Weiguo Liu. His research focuses on high-performance computing software design and applications, covering large-scale bioinformatics data processing and parallel software optimization on domestic supercomputing platforms.

On the bioinformatics side, his work addresses performance bottlenecks in high-throughput sequencing data analysis, including FASTQ quality control, short-read alignment, BAM file manipulation, and variant calling, and has led to the development of several high-performance bioinformatics software tools. On the supercomputing side, he works on software porting and optimization for the new Sunway heterogeneous many-core architecture, with applications in sequencing data analysis, earth system models, and ocean numerical models. His research has been published in journals and conferences such as Genome Biology, TCBB, FGCS, Euro-Par, Bioinformatics, and BIBM. He also serves as a reviewer for journals including TPDS.
