The Hetao Institute for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Studies (Shenzhen) is a research institution initiated by internationally renowned mathematician and Fields Medal laureate Professor Shing-Tung Yau. It was formally established on 25 April 2025 within the Shenzhen Park of the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone. The institute focuses on fundamental mathematics, applied mathematics, and interdisciplinary research between mathematics and artificial intelligence. It adopts a research paradigm comprising "25% fundamental mathematics, 50% applied mathematics, and 25% interdisciplinary research and technology transfer". Professor Shing-Tung Yau serves as Chairman of the Board, with Professor Shing-Tung Yau Jr. as Executive Vice President. Leveraging the geographical advantages of the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Cooperation Zone, the institute has signed cooperation agreements with institutions including The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen.
